It is our pleasure to invite you and your students to a vocal jazz workshop with the amazing, Caity Gyorgy, hosted by Durham Jazz. We wanted to forward this to a select schools before releasing it to the board and you all were at the top of our list.
Caity Gyorgy is a Juno Award winning Canadian vocalist who is known for singing bebop and swing. She has performed at popular clubs acorss the world and has worked and recorded with incredible musicians and groups including Christine Jensen, Pat LaBarbera, Joceyln Gould, Ira Coleman, Allison Au and Postmodern Jukebox, to name a few. In addition to performing, Caity is also an avid writer and composes songs in the style of the Great American Songbook. Her compositions have been sung by other vocalists around the world and she was recently named the Grand Prize Winner of the 2021 John Lennon Songwriting Contest in the Jazz cateogry for her song “Secret Safe”.
Your vocalists are invited to a workshop focused on vocal jazz techniques, transcription, soloing etc. Workshop participants will be on-mic and recieve individualized feedback throughout the workshop. We are limiting the workshop to 15 students, first come, first serve.

- Friday, May 12th 2023 – 10:00 am-12:30 pm @ Deer Creek Golf Course Banquet Facility (Coughlin Room)

- Non-DDSB students can contact info@durhamjazz.ca to complete the registration process
- Cost is $50 per participant for the workshop and includes 2 hours on-mic workshop, 30 mins Q&A with Caity, snacks and water. This should be received by etransfer to info@durhamjazz.ca (Teachers can attend at no cost)
- Caity will be performing with her band as well as DJ ensembles at Dinner in the Key of Jazz (our year end event) that same evening. We’d be happy for you, as nominating teachers, to join us at a discounted ticket cost. If you are interested please let us know at info@durhamjazz.ca
